Erasmus Students

OVERALL INFORMATION

Internationalisation is a key factor within the educational frame of Estación Diseño. That is the reason why the school is taking part in Erasmus+, whose main objective is to facilitate the international exchange of students and teaching staff between Erasmus + institutions and partners countries. Our Erasmus ID is E GRANADA35. Estacion Diseño has been awarded with the Erasmus Chapter for Higher Education (ECHE) for the 2014-2020 period, and takes part in the following Erasmus mobility programmes:

Students mobility for studies.

Students can enjoy a mobility programme from 3 to 12 months in universities and higher education institutions within EU. Estación Diseño will help you with your application procedure and will give you support for a succesful stay. When your mobility programme is finished, we will make the necessary arrangements for the transfer of the credits you gained.

Students mobility for placement.

You  may prefer to get an internship in a company or organisation of a European Country. This will help you learn new work methologies and get professionally involved in the european area: a total inmersion in a wide labour market.

Teaching staff mobility.

In order to benefit from other professionals from Higher education institutions, know different work methodologies and learn new skills, that will later be an advantage for the other members of the school.

If you decide to participate in an Erasmus+ mobility exchange programme, it will mean to live a great experience. But also, during your stay in Estación Diseño, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the experience with other students from other partner institutions, creating a rich, multicultural and diverse environment.

CARTA ERASMUS

  • ERASMUS POLICY STATEMENT

Estación Diseño is a private institution that provides Higher Arts Education in Design under licence from the Department of Education of the Regional Government of Andalusia. We currently offer Higher Arts Education in Design through two pathways: Graphic Design and Fashion Design. These programmes are equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (240 ECTS credits) and enjoy full recognition within the European Higher Education Area.

Our programmes emphasize the transmission of the technical, methodological, and creative skills that all designers must master, combined with a sense of responsibility towards the social environment. Since its foundation, our institution has endeavoured to promote the public understanding of design culture, with the aim of enhancing the recognition of this discipline’s value in all social spheres (business, public institutions, and the general public). To this end, we have formed active partnerships with the Andalusian Designers Association, the University, the Young Entrepreneurs Association, and public institutions supporting business enterprise such as the Andalusian Public Foundation ‘Andalusia Enterprises’. In collaboration with these partners we organize frequent outreach activities such as exhibitions, entrepreneur training courses, conferences, teaching workshops, etc.

Another of our key goals is to use design as a tool for the preservation and renewal of Andalusia’s cultural heritage. In consequence, Andalusian culture features prominently in our teaching and in the activities of our institution. On this front we collaborate with partners such as the Al-Andalus Heritage Foundation and the Andalusian Memory Museum.

We believe that collaborations with other institutions and business firms both in Spain and abroad hold the key to our being able to offer excellent training in design, as well as to furthering our goal of promoting the public understanding of design culture.

We would certainly like our students to benefit from study and internships abroad, but we also wish to see the culture of our own institution improved and enriched as students, teachers, and personnel from centres abroad come to share in our activities. We are confident that have a great deal to offer to future international visitors. It is for this reason that we wish to take part in the Erasmus programme and to establish exchange and cooperation agreements with educational institutions and business firms in Europe and other countries. We look forward to sharing our educational vision with them and to learn from their experience. Our goal is to build a collaboration network spreading across Europe and the world. We would like to collaborate with institutions with a similar vision, driving towards international integration, and sharing our commitment to a multidisciplinary approach to design and to training designers with a professional cutting-edge outlook.

In the short term we would wish to participate in mobility programmes aiming to facilitate study abroad for students, and teaching and professional development abroad for academic staff. From 2015-2016 we would also like to take part in mobility programmes involving work placements for students.

We are confident that our participation in the Erasmus programme will provide us with a more encompassing view of teaching practice across our discipline and with a deeper understanding of the latest trends in design, while our students and academic staff will benefit from new contacts and opportunities for professional development. We seek to enhance our links with the professional world, to acquire new skills through mobility, to reach new standards of excellent worthy of recognition by other centres and institutions, and to become acquainted with other perspectives and practices through collaboration with visiting students and staff.

GRANADA

The students who choose Granada to study will discover a rich university life, a wide cultural offer and a blend of different nationalities that will make the stay even more interesting. There are many cultural alternatives: concerts, exhibitions, and festivals that take place along the year, such as the International Festival of Music and Dance or the International Comic Exposition.  The lively night life in the city and its tapas help the visitor feel like “at home” and make it easy to live on a tight budget.

Granada is one of the most interesting places in the region of Andalucía, located in an exceptional area sorrounded by Sierra Nevada mountains and the Tropical Coast.

Its cultural heritage makes the city outstanding, offering the visitor extraordinary places such as The Albaicín, the old Moorish quarter and World Heritage, together with the Alhambra and Generalife. Along with that, Granada has given birth to famous flamenco dancers, craftsmen, luthiers and the poet Federico García Lorca, among many others.
